Hi. I’m currently trying to complete the Capacity for Work form for my 50 year old brother who has learning difficulties. My mum completed it a few years ago and ended up having to appeal against the decision that he was able to work. She got the decision overturned but I’d rather not got through the stress of that again!! I wondered if there is any help or advice completing this form, specifically in relation to someone with learning difficulties? Brian attends a day centre 5 days a week and is very definitely not able to work.
Dear SusanMairi,
To save you some time and stress, I would suggest phoning jobcentreplus and asking them to assist you in filling in the form. Alternatively, I have found the below link that provides an example form and guide for filling in the form, I hope it is of some use to you. http://www.nawra.org.uk/Documents/Cardiff_Mar_10/Fit%20for%20Purpose%20%20A%20Guide%20to%20Completing%20the%20ESA50.pdf When you have completed it, photocopy it and keep it for future reference.
Hello @SusanMairi
How did you get on filling out this form? Were JobCentrePlus any help?
Many thanks Sarah
