I’m interested in knowing if anyone has experienced, as an unpaid carer or otherwise, victimisation or discrimination by a local authority, particularly if they have vulnerable relatives that they care for, or who are in poor quality residential homes.
Has a policy like the one imposed on me by Herefordshire Council (link below), which I believe is not compatible with the law, not least, The Equality Act or Care Act, been foisted on you and assisted in destroying your family?
Also, has The Court of Protection been helpful in ameliorating the situation?
On the 7th June 2018, I received a letter from Mr Stephen Vickers (Director for Adult and Wellbeing at Herefordshire Council), forbidding communication with my brother’s social workers and continuing the oppressive and punitive restrictions imposed...
I would also like to make everyone aware of this:
Some of you may have read in the press about a judge criticising and allowing Herefordshire Council to be named for their appaling abuse of section 20 arrangements of children in their care.
Aside from personal experience, I firmly believe a similar culture of ignorance and abuse exists in Herefordshire Council’s management of adult social care, having discovered deprivation of liberty authorisations are signed without checking accuracy or truthfulness.
Of 697 people who had a DoLS authorisations granted between 1st January 2017 and 28th February 2018, none were assisted by Herefordshire Council to appeal the authorisation.
Only 8 during this period were helped by a third party such as a pair RPR (1.15%), to me, this appears to be an extremely low figure.
1. How many DoLS assessments for standard authorisation have been conducted by Herefordshire Council staff between 1st January 2017 and 28th February 2018, for individuals in residential care homes, whether in Herefordshire or another county?
