Hello,
I wanted to introduce myself.
I’m a full-time working single mum to Joe. He’s 3 years old, non-verbal and measuring at 18 months old in terms of development.
We’re trying to navigate this complicated path of diagnosis and getting him the support he needs. We’ve been told by Paeds that we just need to wait and see for now.
I’ve been looking for support and information sources to make this journey less lonely and isolated for both of us.
Welcome to FamilyHub @JoesMum1015 Thanks for introducing yourself. It’s great to have you here!
Hi JoesMum
I can relate to your story as our son was at that stage at 3 years, but that was 42 years ago. We had the same thing that paeds did not want to give a diagnosis and to be fair to them he could have easily been labelled wrongly as there was no medical indication of his problems. He got extra support eventually, this being before free nursery places, through speech therapists and special pre-school classes. He was enrolled in normal school but they soon found his ADHD (although it was called hyperactivity then) was too disruptive and he went to what was then called Educationally Sub Normal School, now SEND. Its a long journey ahead you will have laughs and tears, if you come through it like we did you will end up with a son you are proud of. Others you meet along the way dealing with the same problems will support you and become life long friends. Hopefully the forum will give you help and a chance to just air your thoughts with those who understand.

Thanks Alan. It’s a a scary journey, but gives me great comfort to hear from other parents that have been through this before!
Thanks for sharing your story.
