Hi, I’m new and just starting the transition with my 16 year old son. He is undiagnosed but has severe learning, communication and physical disabilities. Having had my head dragged out of the sand it all feels very overwhelming. After fighting for support for the last 16 years I find it very difficult to trust what any professionals say. Am looking forward to talking to you and gaining advice from people ‘in the know’.
Hi @caseslot our daughter is 22 now but functioning at a much lower age. We too have had to fight for support for her over the years due to her complex needs. We are finally settling her into a day service that has supported us as much as they can which to be honest we are not used too as school ect was so awful. Anyway here if you want to chat or rant even! Welcome to the site.

Hi @caseslot, welcome to FamilyHub! You’ve come to the right place to meet people who are in the same boat as you, and feeling overwhelmed too.
If you haven’t checked out the Mencap website yet, take a look here. There is information available, and links to other sites, about transition into adult services.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch or start new discussions.
All the best, Sian
Welcome to FamilyHub. We're all here because we care about learning disability. Some of us will have questions, and most of us will have stories to share.
Take a look around, have a nosey, start a conversation. This is your community.
