Hi, I have a 17 year old with severe learning disatbilities, global developmental delay and some challenging behaviours. My question is regarding respite and pip. I have been talking to my SW about respite in care Home, but have found here is a 28 day rule about receiving pip, and by default my Carers allowance. Can someone explain the 28 day rule please? If she stays 2 separate days a week on respite will it be different to spending to consecutive days in respite each week? I am a little confused and even the dwp don’t seem to answer my question the same as their literature! Thanks in advance.
Hi. I think it’s 28 days in total in one go? So if they are broken up it’s fine. My son gets 28 nights a year and we have never had any issues. He can stay up to a week at a time usually.
